How We Help

Providing a Helping Hand

ALS is a progressive, usually fatal disease.  With it comes overwhelming demands and lifestyle changes that are taxing to not only the person with the disease but to their caretakers as well.  Our desire at The Busby Foundation is to act as a liaison and advocate for Central Texas families touched by ALS. Through our dedicated efforts, we have developed key relationships with those who may be able to help. With guidance from the National ALS Association, there are many areas by which The Busby Foundation can help families in need.

What We Do

Ease the burden

The Busby Foundation is focused on easing the burden of every day challenges ALS brings to families and individuals.  With our resources, we have helped Central Texas families by…

  • Providing financial “gap” assistance until federal agencies’ aid begins.
  • Directing families on available resources to assist them during these challenging times.
  • Constructing wheelchair and incorporating handicap access features into their home.
  • Assisting with home healthcare and nursing aid.
  • Supplying transportation vouchers to help with hospital visits.
  • Donating services to help families secure wheelchairs, breathing equipment, stair lifts and other mobility devices.
  • Showing compassion and demonstrating there is a community of support so that they don’t face this battle alone.
  • Making Memories Programming helping to support families on a lifetime lasting memory.
  • Educational Gifting Program which supports families with ALS and their children’s education.

Tell Us Your Story

Resources are available

While no one can feel your pain, we have traveled this pathway and we know a little about the journey. Our desire at The Busby Foundation is to act as a liaison and advocate for Central Texas families touched by ALS. Through our dedicated efforts, we have developed key relationships with those who may be able to help.

We work very closely with the regional and national chapters of the National ALS Association, as well as local resources that can sometimes fill in where other services fall short.

More information about living with ALS can be found on the ALSA.org website.
